The main purpose of this event which was held in West Kempsey on Sunday 20th May 2023 with over 40 people in attendance, was to showcase to the public the link between beekeeping, pollination and food security. This was successfully demonstrated by the attendance of industry leading experts in presenting the medicinal properties of honey by Dr Lamorna Osborne and Bruce White OAM discussed the link between beekeeping, pollination and food security. NEW MAE Career Pathfinder Project – Now Closed

WOMEN EARNING WHILE THEY ARE LEARNING The Agrifood ITAB in partnership with the NSW Utilities and Electrotechnology ITAB and Supporting and Linking Tradeswomen (SALT) was successful in winning funding under the National Career Institute Partnership Grants Funding Round 3. With a focus on women, the MAE (Manufacturing, Agrifood and Electrotechnology) Career Pathfinders Project developed current, relatable career information for the Manufacturing, Agrifood & Electrotechnology (MAE)  industries.  The resources contained information otherwise unavailable that was endorsed by the relevant industry stakeholders. GRANTS FOR FARMERS, SMALL BUSINESSES AND NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANISATIONS

The NSW Government has advised that grants will be made available to farmers, small businesses and not-for-profit organisations that have impacted by the recent storms and floods.  The public notice states, “The NSW and Australian Governments are working together to provide financial support to businesses impacted by the recent storms and floods. Eligible primary producers can apply now for a Special Disaster Grant of up to $75,000 on the Rural Assistance Authority website. Small businesses and not-for-profit organisations may be eligible for a grant of up to $50,000. Bee Futures Mid North Coast a Buzzing Success

A community Bee Futures Environmental Showcase day was held on Sunday the 27th of February 2022 at Old Bar on the Mid North Coast. Despite heavy rain and potential flash flooding, over 30 community stakeholder participated in the event. Participants ranged from 5 years to 85 and ranged from young beekeeping enthusiasts to industry experts with over 45 years of experience. Some of the participants were from the Manning Valley Amateur Beekeeping Association and others from high schools from the region who were interested in introducing bee keeping and environmental sustainability to their curriculum. Bee Futures a “Buzzing” Success

The Bee Futures showcase day at Bidwell at the agricultural farm was a “Buzzing” success with over 30 people in attendance. Participants ranged from 5 to 85 years old had a buzzing time ! Participants learnt about beekeeping, the environmental benefits of beekeeping and pollination. They dressed up in bee suits and extracted honey ! A BBQ lunch and raffle prizes made the day even more exciting. Many of the participants leafed with with their own bee suits, smokers. gloves and exclusive t-shirts !
