The Australian Government is developing the National Agricultural Workforce Strategy. A discussion paper has been released and is requiring stakeholders input. The discussion paper covers: impact of changes to agribusiness and broader society on the agricultural workforce availability of workers, including barriers and impediments skills and knowledge needs of workers and business owners and whether current education arrangements meet their needs opportunities, best practice and case studies, and priority areas for action The strategy will recommend potential actions to address the future workforce needs of the: agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries closely allied service and supply chain industry sectors. The Bert Evans Apprentice Scholarships were first launched in 2014 to assist apprentices who have experienced hardship in their life to successfully complete their apprenticeship. The Bert Evans Apprentice Scholarships assist apprentices in NSW who have demonstrated: hardship in their personal circumstances aptitude for vocational education and training to lead to successful completion of their trade training a positive attitude and application in the workplace and in off-the-job training There will be a maximum of 95 Scholarships awarded in 2020, including up to 20 Scholarships for Indigenous Apprentices. Training Services NSW as part of the NSW Department of Education has just updated its Smart and Skilled Skills List for 2020. Only qualifications on the NSW Skills List are eligible to attract NSW Government funding for training delivery and assessment. The Diploma of Agronomy (22273VIC) has now been added to the this list. The qualification price is listed at $4,820 for the first qualification fee and subsequent qualification fee to the student is $5,430.
